Through the day-to-day rush, we lose sight of the importance of produce in our diets. It is challenging to follow the picture-perfect nutrition plan, whether you’re rushing the kids off to an activity or in between meetings. Luckily, there are several easy ways to increase your produce intake that won’t require a lot of your time or energy. Let’s look at these simple and effective solutions!

Make a Topping

Combining a variety of fresh produce into one delicious topping or garnish is an excellent way to bring in these essential vitamins and minerals. You can create a large batch to chip away at every day. For example, pico de gallo makes a versatile topping side, garnish, or dip, as it contains simple produce such as ripe tomatoes, onion, peppers, and cilantro. 

Start a Garden

Not everyone has the soil or space to plant their produce, but several urban gardens feature vertical planters or raised beds. The upside to a garden is the ability to harvest your produce as it’s ready and prepare it in a moment’s notice. This saves you a trip to the market and the questioning of where this product came from. 

Meal Prep Snacks

Many turn to meal prep at the beginning of the week to save them time as the week progresses. But meal prep is not only for lunches and dinners; in fact, you can prepare a week’s worth of snacks, which is an easy way to increase your produce intake. Consider cutting your produce and placing a snack-sized portion in a container for each day you will need a snack. 

A few excellent snacking ideas include:
